Joint Council of Europe/OSCE declaration adopted

On the Warsaw Summit's second day, the Council of Europe and the OSCE signed a joint declaration on co-operation and complementarity between the two organisations.

19/11/2007 :: The Council of Europe Committee of Ministers Chairman Adam Daniel Rotfeld and Chairman in Office of the OSCE Dimitrij Rupel signed  17.05.2005 a joint declaration on the fringe of the Council's 3rd Summit of heads of state and government in Warsaw on co-operation and complementarity between the two organisations.

The declaration recognises the need to adapt relations between the Council of Europe and the OSCE to the evolving international environment and underlines the need for the two organisations to work more closely together in identifying effective co-ordinated responses to new threats and challenges, based on principles of complementarity, transparency and democratic accountability.
