A conference on the future of the European Court of Human Rights will be organised in February 2010 in Interlaken, Switzerland. Its purpose will be to draw up a roadmap for the future development of the Court, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year - with no less than over 100,000 cases pending before it.

The Committee of Ministers supervises the Council of Europe's member states’ execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. In 2008 , for the first time, an annual report on the Committee of Ministers’ supervision was published. An on line database on the state of execution of judgments of the Court has also been established.
