December 3rd: International Day of Disabled Persons

19/12/2007 :: December 3rd marks the Inteternational Day of Disabled Persons, adopted by the United Nations in 1992. The day is aimed at bringing attention to the situation of people with disabilities, with a view to securing their equal dignity and participation in society. In 2007, the Council of Europe celebrated the one year anniversary of its Disability Action Plan on this day. + More

Social Cohesion: Disability Action Plan 2006-2015

19/12/2007 :: As a part of the Council of Europe’s (CoE) focus on social cohesion, a ten year Disability Action Plan was adopted in September 2006. The Action Plan to promote the rights and full participation in society of people with disabilities : improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in Europe 2006-2015 is a considerable programme, proposed jointly by Nordic and Baltic countries at the 2005 Warsaw Summit and adopted in 2006. + More

These core values are democracy, rule of law and human rights. European pharmacopoeia

02/02/2006 :: Established in 1964, the European Pharmacopoeia was set up to harmonise medical standards to make drugs safer for the consumers. The harmonisation, with the implied national requirements, also has the advantage of facilitating imports and exports of medicines. The European pharmacopoeia, in collaboration with the EU, is mainly concerned with the quality aspect of European medicines policy and covers all phases from composition, manufacturing, marketing and quality control. + More
