The European Health Committee (CDSP) was set up by the Council of Europe in 1954 to promote health and co-operation throughout Europe.

The Council of Europe deals with a variety of health issues such as blood transfusion, organ transplantation, embryonic, foetal and post-natal animal-human mixtures, health policy development, citizens’ and patients’ role, and health promotion.

The European Health Committee is co-operating with other international organisations in the field of health, in particularly with the WHO and the EU.
